Capgemini Equips 1,000+ Senior Leaders to Drive and Govern Generative AI Adoption

Capgemini wanted its senior leaders to lead the way on Generative AI, both inside the organisation and across client programs. Leaders were being asked to sponsor AI initiatives, choose the right use cases, and manage the risks, but they needed a common framework to do it well. Capgemini partnered with GSDC to deliver the Generative AI Leaders certification program to more than 1,000 leaders. Leaders now share a common language for Generative AI and have the confidence to sponsor, prioritise, and govern AI initiatives with their teams and clients.

Capgemini

Capgemini is a global leader in IT services and consulting, helping organisations around the world with technology, digital transformation, and business change. Generative AI is quickly becoming a key part of how Capgemini works, both in the solutions it delivers to clients and in how it runs its own operations. Senior leaders play a big role in this shift. They decide which AI initiatives to back, guide teams through adoption, and help clients make the right choices. To do this well, Capgemini wanted its leaders to have a strong, shared understanding of Generative AI strategy, value, and risk.

Generative AI was moving fast, and leaders were being asked to make important decisions about it every day. Clients wanted guidance on where AI could add real value, and internal teams needed direction on how to adopt it safely. But leaders were coming from different backgrounds and had different levels of AI knowledge. There was no common framework for choosing the right use cases, measuring value, or managing risks like data privacy, accuracy, and compliance. Without a shared approach, AI decisions could become inconsistent across teams and client programs.

GSDC started by understanding the role leaders played in AI decisions, both on client programs and inside Capgemini. The program was designed for busy senior leaders, so it focused on strategy and decision-making rather than technical detail. The goal was to give every leader a shared language for Generative AI and a practical framework they could use straight away with their teams and clients.

Covered Generative AI fundamentals in clear business language, focusing on what AI can do, where it adds value, and its limits.

Practical frameworks for selecting and prioritising AI use cases based on value, feasibility, and risk.

Responsible AI principles and governance models so leaders could set the right guardrails for their teams.

Real-world case discussions and group exercises based on scenarios leaders face with clients.

GSDC Generative AI Leaders certification to formally recognise each leader's skills and knowledge.

1

Discovery & Leadership Needs Assessment

Phase 1

The team started by understanding how leaders were involved in AI decisions and where they needed the most support. This made sure the program matched the real challenges leaders faced on client programs and inside the organisation.

2

Program Design & Rollout Planning

Phase 2

GSDC worked with Capgemini to tailor the program for senior leaders and plan delivery across a large group. With more than 1,000 leaders taking part, batches were scheduled to fit around busy calendars and client commitments.

3

Generative AI Foundations & Strategy

Phase 3

Leaders built a strong understanding of Generative AI in business terms. Sessions covered how AI creates value, where it fits in client and internal programs, and how to align AI initiatives with business goals.

4

Use-Case Selection & Value

Phase 4

Leaders learned practical frameworks for finding, assessing, and prioritising AI use cases. Group exercises helped them apply these frameworks to real scenarios they face with clients and their own teams.

5

Risk & Responsible AI

Phase 5

A dedicated module covered AI risk and governance. Leaders learned how to manage data privacy, accuracy, security, and compliance, and how to put responsible AI guardrails in place across their programs.

6

Certification & Outcome Review

Phase 6

Leaders completed the GSDC Generative AI Leaders certification. The final stage also reviewed program results and feedback to understand the impact and identify next steps for wider AI adoption.
